Established by John Hewkin in 1979, Hewkin and Associates Limited, the family owned and run business, has established itself as leader in the manufacture of the highest quality coffins and caskets.

Initially the company, and the wider coffin manufacturing trade was greatly influenced by Mr Cyril Hewkin, who was an innovative and skilled engineer, bringing to the company a wealth of ideas and values which are still in place today.

He was the first to manufacture veneered chipboard coffins and was instrumental in the company being granted our patents, ensuring that our manufacturing methods produce the highest quality products for which we continue to enjoy an enviable reputation.

All of our coffins are still of a traditional shape, having tapered sides, selected one piece veneers and solid timber mouldings, our strict quality control ensures that precision machining produces perfect symmetry and the high quality and varied finishes for which we are renowned.

We are proud that the Ministry of Defence requested that we supplied 450 coffins for the Falkland Islands conflict and more recently, our products have featured in many television programmes.

Our Managing Director; Mr John Hewkin, has a simple overall philosophy:

'Commitment to service, quality, innovation and craftsmanship must be the principle which encourages us every day.'

Our customers vary from large private companies to very small individual funeral directors, all receiving the same commitment and attention to detail from us.  As our factory is based in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, we are ideally situated to supply our customers nationwide and overseas.

Whilst mainly a coffin and casket manufacturing company, we manufacture in-house and fit, if required, high quality satin interiors and gown sets. We are also able to source a wide range of ancillary accessories to compliment the service we offer.

We have the pride and enthusiasm in the products we offer Funeral Directors, thus establishing a partnership of trust and reliability so that they may enhance their relationship with the families they serve.
